Strawberries, pizza, apple wine, and Asake.
That describes my birthday weekend in a nutshell.
Let’s Get Into It
Blake’s Strawberry Festival was the first stop

My mom, aunts, and I hopped in the car and traveled about an hour to Blake’s Cider Mill in Almada, Michigan, for their annual Strawberry Festival.
I’d been wanting to go for a few years now.
Being able to finally attend was amazing. I enjoyed being with my family and enjoying the atmosphere. It was fun to enjoy the fresh donuts, try the cider, and visit the store with all the goodies.
We went to Red Lobster for a quick meal afterwards, and our bellies were too full.
I think I am still recovering from the shrimp fest!
Yummy eats
I went to in Wyandotte, Michigan, for the first time!
I was asked to visit to create some content for the restaurant.
The breakfast bowls, shrimp, and sandwiches were all delicious, and the drinks were.
Spending time with family
On Father’s Day, I went to my aunt’s house and spent the evening with my uncles and cousins, celebrating with hibachi.
My cousin made hibachi on his fancy grill, and it was pretty yummy. I ended the night with “Oohs and Ahhs of Casa Amor.”

The picnic

I spent the entire morning of my birthday driving around picking up my free food.
It began at Green Lantern, and I got a free square pepperoni pizza, then I drove over to Buffalo Wild Wings and got six mild-flavored wings.
Made a stop at Trader Joe’s for my favorite chips, and I decided to try their mini organic gummy bears as well. How can I forget to mention that I also scored one of their mini totes!
During the picnic, I actually sat in a stupid spot. It wasn’t my normal spot, and it showed. The sun was beaming down on me, and I got a few guests.
I met a random guy who invited me to church, and I also got a surprise visit from a groundhog who got hit on top of the head by a bird. It was pretty wild.
Overall, the picnic trip was needed. I relaxed, ate good food, and even made a mini charcuterie board.
What did I wear

I wore a few different outfits this year.
Leopard print is THE print of the year for Chandra Alilijah.
At the strawberry fest, I wore a white long-sleeve V-neck top, a denim skirt, and a pair of cowgirl boots. To complete this look, I added gold jewelry and a blue bowler bag.
On Sunday, I wore my sexy leopard tube dress with a pair of black knee boots. A simple chain look for the neck.
Monday’s look was a black button-down square-neck top, a zebra-print maxi skirt and my black loafers. I felt this look was fun and groovy.
For my actual birthday, I wore a graphic tee my aunt bought me and a pair of leopard print pants. It was pretty simple because I was going to Belle Isle for my solo picnic.
Dancing the evening away to Asake
I randomly fell in love with Asake’s music. I spent the entire evening of my birthday listening to his albums, drinking wine, and eating cake.
Overall thoughts
My birthday felt intentional, like an opportunity to truly embrace myself as a growing woman.
I didn’t need a crowd of people around me; it felt great to have a few.
And the few who were around me gave me a lot of love, respect, and care.
If anything, this birthday showed me what peace looks like on your special day. It didn’t feel like I had to draw teeth to pull people together or force people to care. I truly believe God gave me a family-oriented and solo moment to teach me a lesson that truly was a blessing.
Cheers to 26.
