#BrokeCK: $20 Cajun Shrimp Alfredo at Target

College is expensive but don’t feel that you can’t make a meal for under $20. Here is a Cajun Shrimp Alfredo recipe.

Being a college student can be challenging because tuition is normally sky high. Textbooks are not cheap and let’s not talk about those room and board fees. The issue is lack of knowledge on how to shop on a budget and not clear out your pockets. Shop smarter not harder.

Let’s make some “not that seasoned” Cajun Shrimp Alfredo on a budget.

The ingredients listed are non-named brand. The purpose of this post is to be as cheap as possible. While also being relatable for college students.

Let’s head to Target

If you are lucky like students at Michigan State University who have a fairly new mini Target planted right near campus. You are steps ahead of the game. If you are not, I suggest taking the bus (eep, I know) or catching a ride share app to your nearest Target.

Find the cheap ingredients

Let’s check those prices

Those shrimps sure took up a portion of our funds.

Let’s go home now and cook our meal.

Making the Cajun Shrimp Alfredo

  1. Add water to a large pot or a sauce pan, place over high heat.
  2. Boil noodles according to package , add a pinch of salt.
  3. Clean shrimp and sauté with 3 tbs of Slap Ya Mama. Set aside
  4. In a sauté pan, add 1 tbs of butter and pinch of Slap Ya Mama.
  5. Let butter cool down, add shrimp.
  6. Cook shrimp until pink, set aside.
  7. Using a sauce pan, add butter then let it melt.
  8. Add entire pint of heavy cream, stir a little, but let simmer.
  9. Optional-Add Slap Ya Mama to heavy cream, let it simmer
  10. Add mozzarella and parmesan to heavy cream gradually and began to stir. How much you add depends on if you want a super cheese taste. If you add too much cheese it will taste like a nasty paste.
  11. Keep stirring until cheese is completely melted. Do not let it burn. Turn down heat, if you have too.
  12. Add shrimp to sauce.
  13. Fold in pasta.
  14. Serve!
