A blog post from Chandra Alilijah about Black hair care

the woman who forgot about coconut oil by C.Alilijah

It’s true!

I know yall tired of hearing about it.

But my hair. Again.

I just remembered that coconut oil exists.

I know. I know.

Let’s Get Into It

I already explained it once

My hair is in a transition stage, aka I am growing it back to health.

And sometimes YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.

Read the blog.

Now, how did I forget…

I am confused as to why I forgot coconut oil exists. Kinda weird…

There was a giant bottle in my basement that I hadn’t used.

I used it.

It changed my day

My curls are not staying in shape, the almond oil was not holding.

That coconut oil…

Different story.

It was everything.

I learned a new technique for my hair.

A disclaimer because

I am experimenting.

My hair is a journey of growth.

I am no expert in hair care, this is an experiment for results.

However , coconut oil made big impact.

My gel may have been too thick, or the color is too pigmented.

Not the color in my hair…

The color of the gel application.

Pink gel is creating an effect I am not happy about.

Feeling like I learned a new skill

It’s still creativity.

Doing your hair is art.

It’s a growing sport.

I am taking my time.

Rushing kills the process.

You have to be careful. Create with care.

Create new regimes

Sometimes it’s okay to start over, and try new techniques.

I did that with my hair. It’s not perfect, still needs some resistance against the heat but overall it’s growing.

And I can’t be mad at that.

I am proud of myself for not giving up, even if it’s “just hair”.

Let’s Talk About It

Have you had your hair moment?
