writing a love letter 101 by C.Alilijah

Hey, the mail lady left you something.

So, you want to write a love letter?

To a friend, maybe your mom or a special lover?

I have tips for you.

Let’s Get Into It

Love letters are sweet

The perfect opportunity to share your emotions, feels and express how you care.

I write love letters to myself and if you read my “Dear love bug” series, I write them to my future husband. Well kinda.

It’s a thing I would want to share with my children one day.

“Ahh, mom was totally a lover girl.” Type of thing.

Get started with a sheet of paper

You need one sheet. Maybe a pen, even some stickers if you’re feeling jazzy.

I would write my love letters in pink ink if it’s to myself, and I would stamp it with a kiss if it’s to my lover.

That’s how sweet I want my letters to be.

Get in the feels

Be truly expressive on how you feel.

If you’re writing to a lover, tell them how much you love their breakfast, going on dates, or how you remember something that’s intriguing to you about them. Make them feel seen in every capacity.

Show how not only you’re paying attention but you truly adore how sweet and lovely your lover is.

The more detailed you are, the better the kiss and cuddles afterwards!

Don’t be afraid

A love letter should tug at the emotions.

It’s vulnerable as well, which can strike a nerve.

However, don’t be afraid to be yourself in this letter.

This person, deserves to know how you feel and it’s time to share some kindness.

Do something unique

If a plain sheet of white paper is too basic, write it on a red sheet with black ink. If letter size is wack, cut the letter into a heart shape.

Paint the letter, add embellishments and photos.

Create a piece of art work that no longer expresses your love but also shows how intentional you are.

You can always wait until February and shop the love letter kit from 6:23 Detroit Shop… unless we “possibly” drop it again this fall for cuddle weather. Who doesn’t love a romantic fall?

It’s okay to be expressive

Take this as opportunity to treat your lover or yourself to a sweet note.

Don’t shy away from truly giving someone you love or yourself something that’s memorable.

Test your pen.
