Finding joy through daily habits by Chandra Alilijah

What did you do today? By. C.Alilijah

What brought you joy today?

Because sometimes we need to reflect and see the results.

It’s not a grade, it’s a reflection. It’s an opportunity to understand and to appreciate your small efforts.

The challenge

Even though April is already settled in. She’s moving pretty fast, too, like girl! Relax.

I challenge you daily to start writing out the special moments in your life.

For the rest of the month, jot down anything, whether it’s big or small, that happened during the day that you are grateful for.

Do this every day…

Why am I recommending this

It’s joyous to recount special moments in your life. In my opinion, it helps you find peace in life’s simplest pleasures. It allows you to recount your day in small bits and reflect on the moments that stood out.

Why does it matter

Too much of our happiness is dependent on whether we’re having “big pivotal” moments in our lives. Birthdays, graduations, weddings, grand openings, and award shows are special moments often deemed as happy times and celebrations, which is true. However, we miss out on the simple pleasures of life when we’re always waiting for the next celebration.

Sometimes the sweetest celebration of the week can be going to the library and finding new books or arriving at work without dealing with traffic. Finding a parking spot that’s not super far from the event can be a win.

Don’t overthink it

As I said, while those big celebrations are special and you should be grateful for them, celebrate all bits of life.

Make it easy, use your Notes App and track it every hour if you want, “Oooh, my coffee was really good this morning, and that made me happy!” Jot that down.

If you want to get your hands dirty, carry around a pocket notebook.

Whatever you do – don’t overthink it.

Your impact

Did you make your bed this morning?

Yes? Write that down.

This is about taking note of your daily impact and applauding yourself for your discoveries and how good it feels to be alive.

Rather, it’s big or small, don’t be afraid to take note of it.

Finding value in life

Reflecting on my daily bits has allowed me to identify how alive, well, and strong I am because God is moving through me.

It’s keeping my brain moving, helping me identify what’s going on in my life that brings me joy, peace, whether it’s a paragraph or just one sentence.

The action is motivating because the small seconds the biggest impact on my mood and my day.

Show some gratitude

Know that showing gratitude is powerful. Having gratitude is powerful. Take nothing for granted and find peace in the uncontrollables.

I promise it’s free dopamine.

Let’s talk about it

Is this a challenge you would like to be a part of?
