A popular craft store is getting upgrades.
You know the saying – when one door closes, another one opens.
Joann Fabric recently closed its doors for good in 2025, following bankruptcy announcements at the beginning of the year. It came as a shock and left many crafters on social media in a frenzy over where to buy their knits and fabrics.
Michaels released a statement in June 2025, announcing that they would start carrying a few of JOANN Fabrics’ brands.
The store has adapted well to well-known brands from JOANN, such as Big Twist and Yaranspirations, with many more to come. Customers should expect more sewing machines from brands like Singer and Brother, new products from Clover, FISKARS, and Coats & Clark.
What they’re currently selling: Knit Edition
Michaels is growing their knit collection one day at a time. Expect to find a larger assortment from brands like Red Heart, Lion Brand and more you love from JOANN Fabrics as the store acquires more brands and textures.
What they’re currently selling: Sew Edition
Currently, Michaels is growing their fabric collection with licensed prints of Hello Kitty, Pokémon, Mickey Mouse and SpongeBob! With additional harvest prints, Christmas-themed cotton and basic hues.
You can also find machines and sewing notions like thread, buttons and pins.

Michaels gave away free pouches to VIP reward members who spent over $5 on purchases.
VIP reward members were also able to enter a raffle for a $100 Michaels gift card.
