Need some extra guidance on how to improve your junk journaling experience?

I saw a post on Pinterest titled “artist prompts,” and it challenged me to make a junk journal prompt list. To tap not only into my creative mindset but also provide guidance.

Let’s Get Into It

1. Your favorite summer memory

You can plan to document the journey or use the memories you already have.

Pick your background; it could be a photo of you, friends, or family. It could also be a flyer, a wrapper of candy you ate during that time, or a bag you received featuring your souvenir if it’s from vacation.

The goal is to build a spread that features your favorite summer memory into a collage.

2. My favorite snacks

Save the wrappers, or photos of your favorite snacks, and create a spread that creatively shows them. You can cut out a photo of yourself eating the snack, with multiple wrappers scattered on the page, to emphasize your enjoyment.

3. “SHOW ME A GOOD TIME”

Is it a concert? A trip to New York?

Maybe even a funny time with your childhood pet.

Make a spread using random pieces to recreate what a good time looks and feels like. It can be filled with fabric, gems, and quotes to add texture and emotion.

4. “Define peace using fruits”

Junk journaling is about using what you have to create spreads that are engaging, fun, and interesting for YOU.

How do peace and fruit relate? You tell that story.

5. “Show your ultimate style”

Grab magazine clips, take photos of clothes in your closet, and define your ultimate style.

As someone whose style is always evolving, creating a spread of your clothing, products you want, or patterns you want to try is a good way to start developing your personal style.

6. Your dream vacation

Postcards, photos, stamps, maybe even a bit of affirmations from travel pamphlets.

You can create a spread that features a destination you want to travel to and explore.

7. ‘Who Am I”

The simplest spread you can do. Using memories like personal photos, quotes you live by, patterns you love, is a great way to tell the story of you.

You can use decorative stickers, pens, and notes to describe yourself.
