A Junk Journal Coffee Shop Trip by C.Alilijah

The coffee shop date you didn’t know you needed!

Because junk journaling at the coffee shop with your mom is cooler.

I made custom journals, gathered supplies, and headed to our local coffee shop.

It was such a fun experience to sit, chit-chat, and create.

Let’s Get Into It

Create a journal

If you have the supplies to make a custom journal, DO IT!

Or grab your regular journal that’s ready for spreads.

Don’t forget the supplies

Remember back in January, I taught you how to make that groovy craft box?

What did I call it?

The “DIY MOODY TRINKET BOX”, full of paper, scissors, pens, and a few embellishments, was really all I needed to transport.

Pick the coffee shop

My mom had never been to Detroit Brew-ti-ful, so I thought it was a good idea to take her there.

They serve classic drinks like brewed coffee, espresso lattes, lemonade, pastries, and sandwiches.

I got a salted caramel latte, and my mom got the brewed coffee paired with a ham croissant sandwich.

Stick to tape

One of my biggest tips for junk journaling at the coffee shop is leaving the glue at home unless you have a craft mat.

While I did bring my mini craft mat, I only used double-sided tape to avoid a mess.

Bring a mini trash bag

If you can find mini trash bags, bring them.

I mean super tiny trash bags to toss tape and paper scraps at the end.

That’s the one supply item I wish I had.

Less is more

One magazine can get the job done. It’s more challenging and exciting to create a spread.

I didn’t bring a lot of cardstock and stickers either.

Just enough.

When you’re creating in a public space, try to limit the mess! ALWAYS.
