We’re going back to our roots (officially)

Going back to our roots as a content creator. If you know you know.

Before I was a content creator on Instagram. YouTube was my thing.

We’re going back.

Who are we? Chandra, I am going back, but this time I am going to make it stick.

Let’s Get Into It

Not returning as just a “ typical creator ”

That’s the first lie, partially.

I am returning to YouTube for a few reasons. One to document the memories of the rest of my 20s. Two to create for an audience that may value longer-form content better.

Instagram has pissed me off, and TikTok is too flea market-ish.

I am tired of feeling like I am begging on those apps for traction and people to care.

Don’t get me wrong, YouTube can be deemed as that same algorithm, but I’ve seen what YouTube can do with consistency, and it’s time to go back to our roots.

Don’t give up

To some, it can be seen as, “Oh, she left the gram, she’s no longer creating.” That’s not true.

I am just editing the way I am creating and posting.

I am no longer just creating to go viral; I am creating for longevity and to promote my brands.

For the past couple of months, I realized I was making content for other people’s brands rather than my own. That didn’t feel good.

While it was such a blessing to create and have those opportunities, what about my own brand?

Why am I not putting the same effort in?

The end goal is changing

While content creation is growing and many are still hopping on the trend, you truly have to have an end goal.

I am moving the goal post. It’s no longer necessary to have millions of followers or even subscribers. I want people to learn something from me and not just doomscroll my 30-second videos.

Plus, my brands need me!

So, will they watch my 20-minute videos instead?

It’s about providing purpose

I began YouTube when I was around 13. I was making DIYs, reaction videos, and that’s what killed the channel. Who cares how I feel about a video of someone else? Just like who truly cares how good that dang pasta is, if they can’t get a box of it themselves?

The DIY videos were cool, though, and I should’ve kept going. They were not only entertaining but informational, providing folks with guidance.

Don’t get me wrong, my personal style guides on Instagram were helpful too, in my opinion.

I want to go beyond that, though, and provide folks with more insightful content and actually prompt them to get outside, offline.

We’re essentially moving offline

I am confused! You said you were going to YouTube, I AM!

However, the goal of YouTube is beyond just making videos, and if you follow us along on the journey, you will see>

Scratch the social club

I said I was creating a social club on Instagram to post specific content, but I changed my mind for now because I truly want to give Instagram a break.

(Still will post for updates and occasional brand collabs)

Essentially, we’re moving away from Instagram and TikTok and focusing on different platforms. The platforms that we want to experiment with more.

I feel like I say this every month, but I mean it this time!

The journey is about having fun now

I am tired of the five-page strategies and tactics. I want to enjoy social media as I did years ago and not feel performative.

I want to continue documenting my journey and having fun while doing so.

If we go viral, oh no! But at the same time, cool, I guess y’all dig it.

The goal right now is to try other apps and have fun. Make the content we want to make, promote our brand, and not overwhelm ourselves with the desire to be perfect or a viral creator.

Let’s create for ourselves, and if folks like it, then come on. Join the party!

6:23 is getting their own channel

Since 6:23 is a different sector of my life, it will have its own YouTube series where I discuss small business, behind-the-scenes details, and vlogs.

It’s an opportunity to learn about my journey as a small business owner!

It’s a process

This truly can go really well, and it may be just as annoying, but I am trusting the process.

It’s me taking back control of my social media presence and making it my own, not allowing apps and expectations that aren’t my own to define my experience.

Next week, I could say “Never mind, I’m going back to Instagram (probably won’t), but bear with me!

As I said before, I’ll report back monthly on my current content journey.

For now, expect updates on new videos through blog posts, Threads, Pinterest, and occasional promos on Instagram and Facebook!

I know, I know, but Instagram is like the promo app for right now. I have a following there, and it only makes sense to leverage it to promote the brands.

Listen! I’m still figuring it out.
