5 tips on how to show up as your best self during the holiday season

How to prepare to show up as your best self this holiday season.

The holiday season is knocking at our front door.

Tis the season for family gatherings, Friendsgiving, holiday parties, and fancy dinner parties. The holiday season can either be a blast or a complete disaster, it doesn’t have to be though!

Here is all you need to know:

1. Prepare for those awkward conversations

The holidays are usually when you meet with your family, and friends for food, festivities, and fun. In that same sense sometimes being around family means you may be asked about your life, job, relationships, and the scoop.

My biggest advice is always to remember you do not have to share your personal life especially if you don’t want to. It’s okay to say you’re not in town or around to be the topic of conversation.

Yes, I am well aware it is not that easy to say you’re not discussing your personal life but one of my biggest tips is to simply figure out a way to stop the conversation before it even gets started.

You can do that by telling them you do not want to talk about it off rift, you can even say life is going okay or fine and leave it at that. Find a way that is workable for you that protects your emotions and boundaries.

One thing, that helps me during those interactions is being mindful of what I say and limiting discussing my personal life in big crowds. The less you say, the less they know.

2. Dress for yourself this holiday season

Holiday Season

My family knows by now that I always overdress, I am always going to show up in my best fashion and serve a look.

Show up as your best self even if you’re not your best safe because sometimes dressing up, and wearing your best can help you feel good. It can help you with self-love and also who doesn’t like looking good?

Bring out those fancy overcoats and knee boots!

3. Take care of your mental health

If you feel that a group of individuals are going to bother your peace then it’s best to avoid them. Don’t damage your mental health for the sake of showing up.

4. Do some self-care

Do some self-healing this holiday season as well, buy yourself something nice, and make your favorite meals as well. Journal if you need to express yourself and your thoughts.

Self-care can help with the winter blues as well, it’s normally not as sunny or warm so find some indoor hobbies to tackle.
