Or should we wait until fall?
Spring fashion is one of my favorite eras. I guess.
It’s like a mix between winter and fake summer in Michigan. Some days we get the warm weather, and other days we get nothing! In my opinion, it’s one of the best seasons to wear fun, bold patterns that add texture to your spring looks.
Let’s Get Into It
What are fashion prints

In fashion, prints are typically patterns, designs made onto fabric, whether sewn, digitally printed, or even painted. Think leopard, zebra, houndstooth; those are patterns we often see in fashion.
I just found out that fabrics like twill, jacquard, and ikat are not considered prints because they are woven into the fabrics according to a fashion blog called Kindly Woven. Read their post for more information.
Leopard me always

We all know my signature print is leopard. I grew up on the Cheetah Girls, who often wore leopard instead of CHEETAH. Leopard is fierce, she’s sexy. I used to be shy of it before I turned 24, but I realized over time that it’s my go-to print because it feels like it was made for me. I feel fly, I feel sexy in my leopard blouses or midi skirts.
Find a signature print that you can make your own this spring to spruce up your wardrobe. Adding print to your wardrobe makes it cooler; it adds spunk and personality.
Don’t be bland.
Mixed prints are key
Rather, it’s cheetah print, paired with plaid or argyle, and zebra. Mixing your prints is SO crucial if you’re a maximalist. I am not entirely a maximalist; however, I love the gaudiness of it.
It’s truly experimental because you literally have to be brave enough and (crazy) to pull it off. Just kidding about the crazy part, but it’s truly a dare-to-wear experience.
My biggest tip for mixing prints this spring is to find two prints of the same family or similar and start there. You truly will find yourself obsessed with the game of trying to complete these looks as one.

Prints as accessories are in
If you don’t have a sexy snakeskin bag or a printed magazine clutch, your closet is crying for cooler clothes. You can only do so much with a solid black handbag; you need something that screams, “CHIC ASF” literally.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t for everybody, but I am begging you to get that printed silk scarf with the red flowers or that cheetah belt, something girl.
If you can’t wear the printed shirt or bottom, at least wear the bedazzled sunglasses with spikes. Give us some texture somewhere…

Colorblock using prints

Make a very boring, colorful outfit into a spicy spring date night outfit? Count me in!
Spring is the perfect season to bring out that light blue, the mint green, even the pinks. However, to truly embrace prints and color this year, combine the two. Wear a print as a bottom layer paired with a yellow blazer suit. For date night, do a solid colored dress with flashy tights, NOT TACKY TIGHTS, a cute leopard or fishnet look. Just make sure, IT AIN’T TACKY!
Where to find groovy prints

In my opinion, the thrift is the best store to find the coolest prints, if you know where to go thrifting, of course!
Search for 90s prints, that sexy leopard, gingham, there are all kinds of prints you can find if you dig deep enough.
