Join our “blog’s social club” on Instagram

Your favorite fashion blog is on Instagram.

A unique take on using social media.

With social media being a space for connection and growth. I’ve decided to do something that may work or be a BIG working progress.

We’re going private on Instagram >

I brought my OG Instagram account back, “ChandraAlilijah,” because I want a space where I can showcase my blog posts to individuals who genuinely want to connect and support our posts and content.

While “DiaryofChan” is my baby and a brewing beauty, sometimes I feel like there are too many eyes on me. Sometimes, I want my social media presence to be personal without feeling like everyone is just waiting for the next post. Or I am creating for the sake of the timeline.

Should a brand go private on Instagram

I am not sure, honestly. This is my first time working on this concept. Most folks will say no because you won’t reach new followers, but why should we grade our content, brand, and relevancy on follower content?

That’s how we lose the drive, the focus, the goal post.

I want to build some aspects of my brands in secrecy, without the world judging or watching every step of the process.

The overall concept

Alright, so I already have this blog, where I post daily. Think of the blog as a book club for blog lovers. Blog club for people who enjoy my blog’s fashion takes, music playlists, and lifestyle bits.

It’s the behind-the-scenes bits, the funny moments, the quirky edits, the cool moments that are expressive, unique, and special to me that I wouldn’t want to share with the whole world. I would specifically share these moments with my “community”.

Think of it as a free subscription; some people sign up for their favorite brand’s newsletters or text messages to stay up to date. In this case, you’re requesting to join our blog’s page to dig deeper into our brand and just vibing out honestly.

Fine-tuning how social media works for our brand

The rules say, “do this to be seen,” but what if I want to be seen by the right people?

This is an attempt to treat social media further than its current purpose. If we’re being honest, we’re losing the point of “let’s be social” now everything is “let’s make content”. Don’t get me wrong, make your money, do your thing, but what if we went back a bit to the roots of it?

What if we made specific communities we didn’t want to go viral because virality was never really the goal? What if we created exclusivity for our brands? Making people find us in real life to truly embrace and connect with what we have created.

That doesn’t sound too bad, honestly.

Will this work

I am going to try it for March. I’ll report back every week with an update. (If there are updates)

Maybe I am chasing privacy, or maybe I want to build in peace.

I mean, most brands, if we wanted partnerships, would require us to have a public account, and DiaryofChan is currently private anyway, it’s “under construction”.

It’s an era of rediscovery, new ideas, and we’re excited to try this out.
