Self-care is key for a successful 2026

Have you started your self-care journey?

A new year, a new start at taking care of yourself!

Self-care is a tool to ensure you’re not getting overwhelmed and stressed through the process of life. It’s a moment where you can do what you want to do, enjoy yourself and have fun as well!

Everyone should have a self-care routine or at least something that brings them joy!

Let’s Get Into It:

What is self-care?

In my opinion, self-care is the act of taking special time, effort and courage to embrace your wellbeing. From taking yourself on dates to having a warm bath night at home, self-care is an act of appreciating your body, mind and soul.

Why does self-care matter?

Having a self-care routine is important because it’s crucial to connect with your inner and outer being!

If you want to be the “total you” this year, it starts with creating a routine that’s beneficial to life.

Self-care is moments that can be spent alone or with loved ones that fuel your energy.

What does a self-care routine look like?

For myself, self-care can be going to coffee shops to plan my week, or grabbing a sweet treat after work to fill my tummy.

Even a night inside watching movies and eating charcuterie boards.

It doesn’t have to be an expensive outing or a coffee drink; it can be a night where you just sit inside in your pajamas, enjoying a yummy bowl of popcorn or listening to your favorite music and dancing in the house.

Self-care shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg; it should be an inexpensive routine that just requires you and your dedication to taking care of yourself.

Here are a few ideas to add to your self-care routine

Weekly DIY projects

Seek a few projects to start doing weekly, which can include up-cycling clothing, fixing furniture around the house, painting art pieces or even creating clay pieces.

Solo coffee dates

I am an advocate for enjoying a quick solo coffee trip. There’s nothing like visiting a new coffee shop for the first time, meeting the staff and trying a new drink.

A nice warm bath at night

It’s okay to have a nice warm bubble bath every once in a while with a fresh candle burning on the counter. You can relax your muscles, mind and just sit and enjoy the peace.

One full breakfast a week

Within your busy schedule, take one day out of the week to have a full breakfast featuring pancakes, eggs, sausage, and even a glass of OG or apple juice. Mimosas if you’re feeling sassy! There’s power in sitting down and enjoying one good meal and if breakfast is that meal, you won.

Binge a show

Find a new or random show you keep avoiding on Netflix and just watch it! Every once in a while, you deserve to curl up in a warm blanket with your favorite snacks and tune into a show. It’s a good escape from work and school.

Buy yourself a nice trinket

Had a long week at work? Is school bothering you? On Friday or on the weekend, take the time to go to the store and purchase something nice! It can be a new handbag or a little notebook for journaling, it’s okay to TREAT YOU.

Start a new hobby

To truly embrace your self-care journey, do the things you enjoy, which includes your hobbies! Take a day or at least an hour, out of your day to contribute to your hobbies. Rather, it’s going to the gym or taking a walk, and finding some time to execute the things you enjoy.

Self-care shouldn’t feel like a job

The act of taking care of yourself should feel like a must, not a job! Meaning it should bring you ease, if you feel overwhelmed- that’s okay. Maybe that self-care idea isn’t for you, try something new, but never lose the ability to take care of yourself.

Have fun on your journey this year!

Love,

Chandra
