My business hasn’t hit a million sales yet, but it grows as I grow.
From bad financial decisions to taking classes to enhance my business. I’ve been doing a little bit of everything to figure this thing out.
Let’s Get Into It:
Younger me made bad business moves
Don’t buy insurance if you don’t need it. (Yet)
Don’t get a sales tax if you’re not ready to report. (Yet)
Don’t get an LLC unless you’re ready to file as one every year.
From bad financial decisions and moving too fast with licensing, taxes and other expenses, I’ve learned that research is key.
While having those qualities helps set a tone for your business, you can also invest in these things “too early”, meaning know your sales.
Now, some states, programs and grants require these attributions to be considered a “legal business”. I truly suggest doing research and talking to government agencies on how these things work, to avoid spending a lot of money you don’t have yet.
Do I know what I am actually doing
By now, I have a better understanding of what I am doing, my why, and my operations.
However, I truly believe that it’s a working process. I didn’t go to business school, and I don’t have any experience in running a business besides working retail.
Working in retail has leveraged my experience and taught me different procedures and skills. It’s been my “hands-on” experience.
Business is experimental
As a creative creating a business, it’s forever changing. One minute you want to sell chocolate-covered strawberries, and then next you’re scratching that off the list because it no longer aligns.
Fine-tuning my product list is always a challenge because I’m constantly trying to figure out what’s working and what’s not.
That’s why I say, as I grow, so does the business.

I want a perfect business (doesn’t exist)
It truly does not. A perfect business is a fairytale dream.
Business is investing, believing in you, and trying hard to sell this thing to an audience, a customer, the best way you can.
I think the beauty of it is being able to create from a blank canvas and not being afraid to tap into your imagination, creativity and create beautiful projects that are truly yours.
The challenge is, if your name is on it, you want to make sure it’s good, it’s high quality, and top-notch. Sometimes you have to execute and stick with it because if you’re constantly testing and unsure, you’ll always stay in the beginner steps.
You have to focus forward.
What’s next
For 6:23, I’m planning our summer schedule by finding neighborhoods to pop up in.
Building my brand brick by brick and not being afraid to show myself.
I truly believe some seasons require me to show up more, and other seasons I want to grow in peace.
How can I grow in peace while I have a whole business to advertise?
That’s something I am still trying to figure out, but I know that while social media can help my business go viral… I don’t want a viral business.
Sure, maybe I’ll make that million quicker but I want longevity and I truly believe that starts when you focus on what’s going on offline first.
You can build a very pretty concept online, but an offline experience is powerful and holds great value.
Social media is a tool, and should be used as one, but I am not building a social media brand. I am building an in-person experience.
