Let’s start the week with a LEWK.
Each week is an opportunity to develop your personal style and confidence.
Let’s set the scene
It’s Sunday night, and some of you already have an outfit, while others are struggling to decide whether to wear the same black slacks or their new pair of black loafers with the gold chain.
Don’t wear the black slacks.
Nor the ugly ballerina shoes. They’re outdated and causing flat feet. There, I said it.
I get it, not everyone can be a diva and pull off the chic penny loafers or the platform look, but come on, you can at least do a kitten heel.
You hate Mondays and office attire because your style sucks and you’re not confident in your look.
If you invested in clothing you like, your work life wouldn’t be a bore, and you would be confident when you walked in because you dressed as the total you, and you would project authority.
Instead, you’re choosing to wear the crappy blouse with the missing button or the black slacks you’ve had for over five years and haven’t invested in a piece of jewelry since you got that job, and that was 10 years ago.
And don’t get me started about that ugly bag you carry. That needs to be cleaned out, wear a shoulder bag, or at least a statement piece. We’re tired of the black tote.

Dress better to feel better and invest in your personal style
I am not sorry if I hurt you, love, but someone needs to tell you.
Styling yourself is a part of the self-love journey. It’s a lesson in creating outfits that speak to you, finding fabrics that are comfortable for your skin, and colors that complement you.
Mondays can be a drag, but showing up in your best outfit can be powerful. I love showcasing my personal style most days because it boosts my mood. I’ve been “dressing up” since college, and it truly has been a journey. Not every day feels like I want to wear my Clueless garb or vintage mom jeans and platforms, but I will wear a nice coat or bag to complement the look. It allows me to feel somewhat put together.
Sometimes what we’re wearing affects our mood. If you’re wearing clothing you hate or the same get-up every single week with no statement pieces, a pop of color, don’t be surprised, you feel dull and drowsy in those black slacks.
Now, if you spice those black slacks with a chain belt and maybe some platform loafers that aren’t too shiny but just right, you have elevated the look.
But Chan, I don’t know how…
It all starts with a look in the mirror. If you don’t like the reflection of the individual wearing those clothes, then baby, learn to love that individual. Choose better and confidence for that individual because you deserve to like, but also love the reflection staring back at you.
Next is the closet assessment. If you own five pairs of black slacks, toss one and invest in a red pair. Challenge yourself to style a pair of slacks or a shirt with something you would NEVER pair.
I promise you, it will blow your mind how your closet is the first space for style invention.
Let’s Talk About It
Are you going to wear something other than black slacks this week?
