Who ate all the cookie butter?
Was it even good? It took one cookie butter latte from Dunkin for me to get obsessed. I’ve been trying to master that taste since then.
You wanna know what I learned?
You will never master the OG.
I knew that, though.
Let’s Get Into It
The cookie butter espresso era is coming to an end
It’s been 28 days.
Twenty-eight days of drinking cookie butter lattes and writing blog posts.
Are we stopping in February? No!
I told myself that in 2026, our blog will be our main priority. While I love posting content for socials, my blog is the middle child.
See 6:23 Detroit Shop is our oldest child, well, if we’re being honest, 6:23 is the middle child, DiaryofChan is the baby, and my blog is the eldest if we’re going by years of establishment.
Since I’ve started DiaryofChan, she’s been the main star. Something I’ve invested a lot of time in, grateful for the growth.
But DiaryofChan ain’t paying for the $6 cookie butter right now.
6:23 and my blog can.
What am I doing
I feel like, as a creative, everyone is like ahh, post your content, and you’ll go viral (eventually), but I believe that if you truly want to maximize your personal brand. You need to create something that’s beyond your social media page.
Not saying everyone needs a small business or a blog, but maybe a passion project that maximizes your creativity and connects you to a deeper purpose.
Mine just so happens to be both. Wow, Chan, you’re so cool! Ahh!
I know, right?
Let me stop, actually, no.
See, I realized that over time I was neglecting the part of my personal brand that truly is the steak. My blog is not only a place to write out my theories and give the girls fashion looks, but it’s the soul of the brand.
DiaryofChan had the potential to be that as well, and I know that’s why I spent so much time trying to make it that, but I also found myself ANNOYED.
Social media is such a bore at times; everyone wants to win, and it can get copy-and-paste. Having an “original” idea on social media is like having a really delicious cookie butter latte that everyone wants to master!
See what I did there?
Let’s just say, social media was fun. It was fun when I was creating my content, experimenting, but then I started to see everyone just “finding inspiration,” never giving credit, not really showing the same love in return. I bet Dunkin feels that way too…
I get it, we live in that type of world. Everyone wants to eat and sit at the table, but as someone who is having fun creating and wanting to share, it just doesn’t feel good to see someone do it the next day or the next week, and it’s like… I guess?
Don’t get me wrong, everyone finds inspiration, but why not change up the ingredients a bit? Why not dig into your own experience and create from that?
But we’re not here to dig super deep into that, because over time, what I’ve learned is that if you’re truly creating what you love and using all your great ingredients, it won’t be easy to recreate.
Just like Dunkin did, while we can attempt to make their cookie butter latte, we don’t know the secret sauce.

Don’t give up the secret ingredient
To truly appreciate your own work and feel that it’s unique to you, MAKE IT UNIQUE.
Don’t look at Pinterest and create mood boards.
Dig deeper, look somewhere else.
Try new stuff, or better yet – make it hard to source.
It’s not gatekeeping, it’s protecting.
Plus, it’s refreshing to create something organic to you, your hands, your mixing skills, and your attempt at trying something different.
Now I want to try more lattes from scratch with my own custom syrups or homemade creamers.
At the same time, there is beauty in appreciating the process. While I was making my cookie butter lattes, I learned new recipes for making drinks in general. Warming up the cookie butter tastes different than just throwing it in my cup. Each time I made a cookie butter latte, I learned something new, and that was a great experience.
So if you do like something and want to learn it or master it, do it your own way. Create your own recipe, ya know. Don’t just copy and paste because you’ll never truly know or understand the process behind it if it’s coming from another source.
Perfect and master your own process and be groovy!
Back to the point
It’s been 28 days, and I can confidently say I am glad I took care of my eldest.
She’s growing, she’s protected, and she’s blooming.
It’s not easy, but what I’ve learned is that sometimes social media can make you feel like you’re performing, you’re just trying to hit this metric, and that’s it.
When you start building something that isn’t just about metrics and actually takes time, research, and true effort, it’s more rewarding.
And the beauty is when you can combine those elements as one.
Cookie butter recipe is out, we’re moving onto birthday cake
“The fun stuff”
February is Black History Month and the love era! I’m excited to create some intriguing content; it’ll still have those new elements and pieces of the cookie butter era, but with new flair.
During our birthday cake month, I want to consistently post on socials and not feel bored. We all know I love a good self-love series!
I also want to dabble in Black History Month more, not the typical cookie-cutter stuff, but something cool. Something I can look back and say, “I am proud of that.”
Running out of ingredients shouldn’t kill the flavor
I am down to my last bit of cookie butter, my can of Extra Creamy Reddi Whip got tossed in the trash today, and I used the last drip of my creamer.
Oh, I forgot. I also poured the last bits of my white chocolate syrup.
The latte was delicious though.
It was the perfect balance of all the tiny bits of ingredients.
I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I went to the store today and regrouped. However, I am taking a break from cookie butter.
You get tired of that same ole taste! I’ll be back with it, though. Walmart just didn’t have any in stock. Shame on them. I was too scared to try the off-brand kind.
It may have changed the taste TOO much.
A new “Espresso Diaries” episode is loading.
Creatives should try it all
Creatives, artists, visionaries, innovators, try it all next month!
Try it all this entire year.
We started January on the note of “Total You” and what does that look like?
And we’re going to continue to develop that person, because once one thing changes or ends, that doesn’t mean we lose the flavor of what we built or created.
It just means we can try improved recipes, new ingredients, and they can be super delicious and cool too.
Where are we going with this, Chan?
If only I could tell you.
Try new ingredients in February.
Let’s Talk About It
Did you try a cool recipe this month?
