A yummy, cheap solo date at the coffee shop is key.
New year, new self-care routines include taking yourself out to the coffee shop to treat yourself to a sweet treat.
Let’s Get Into It
Biggby Coffee Lathrup Village offers $1.99 lattes
On Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays throughout January, Biggby Lathrup Village, right off Southfield Road, offers $1.99 16oz lattes if you show their Instagram post in-store.
They also offer 50% off items on Monday through Friday:
- Hot, iced brewed coffee from 6 to 8 a.m.
- Bragels from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Any specialty drinks from 2 to 4 p.m.
What did I order

A “Teddy Bear” latte, a white chocolate espresso drink topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Today we settled for only two shots of espresso.
I make a lot of white chocolate espresso lattes at home, but this was okay. I should’ve gotten something different to try new drinks, but I was satisfied with my choice. It was my first time trying an iced latte at Biggby.
Normally, I would get a Strawberry Shortcake Creme Freeze, a frozen drink that’s full of flavor, topped with whipped cream and strawberry drizzle.
Why solo coffee dates matter
Monthly, I try to have at least one or two coffee dates because I believe there is power in taking myself on a mini date to grab coffee or a quick meal at the coffee shop.
You can try new drinks in peace and learn what you like about coffee and what you don’t! You can even possibly meet new friends.
Often, I talk to new people at the coffee shop. It’s nice to meet new people and listen to their perspectives.
Plus, why not treat yourself to a sweet drink or a dessert!
What do I do on my solo coffee dates
I typically go on Mondays to plan my week or later in the week to reflect. It’s a good way to get some work done outside of my home or decompress.
For me, it’s bringing my notebook to write out blog posts, AirPods to listen to music, and of course, my tripod if I want to take pictures.
