There’s power in connecting with nature.
When I think of the saying, “Stay grounded by nature,” a few definitions come to mind.
One is connecting yourself back to Earth, or what you believe in, to remain whole, or to find you!
In life, whether it’s your job, family, or relationships, they may affect you in a way that makes you lose a sense of your identity.
I am a free-will type of girl. I develop my opinions to fit my needs and interests, to personalize the experience and not allow what society says to deem me right or wrong – there’s power in individuality.
However, practicing grounding is a great way to learn to appreciate and value life’s simplest qualities, like nature. It’s going outside – barefoot, lying in the grass, soaking up the sun, and finding the joy of nature.
Here are some ways I stay grounded by nature :
1. Set intentions
When I plan a trip to explore nature, I ask myself, “Okay, why do I want to do it?”
Am I just getting some fresh air, or seeking a reset?
Why do I practice resets?
Resets allow me to break out of what’s bothering me and reconnect to my purpose.
We all have purposes in this life, and sometimes life will kick you off that purpose. Practicing resets (staying grounded by nature) helps you get back there.
See what I did there?
Be intentional with everything you do in this life. Teach yourself that it’s okay to make mistakes, but reflect on your intention behind them.
Feel free to always ask yourself, “Why am I doing this?”.
2. Don’t psych yourself out
Sometimes we get unsure of what we’re doing, but during this exercise, don’t.
Just go outside, and touch some grass – literally.
Staying grounded by nature isn’t supposed to be scary; it isn’t anything new, it’s just a calling for you to let nature bring you peace of mind.
It’s decompression.

3. Bring a journal
I am a journaling advocate. Journaling has been a very peaceful and rewarding way for me.
It’s connected to my way of grounding because when I sit by the water, I bring my journal and reflect!
One of the biggest ways I place myself in nature is jotting down while I am in the moment – what I hear, what I see, and how I feel being around them.
Writing in the moment and using your five senses is a perfect way to ground yourself.
4. Practice your hobbies
It’s not always easy to go to a park, sit in the grass, and lie there. It can be daunting, and a bit uncomfortable.
To combat that, bring your hobbies along. Bring that coloring book or that puzzle. Find a hobby that’s connected to you and practice it.
Why should I practice hobbies and get grounded at the same time?
You’re enriching yourself in the activities that already bring you to wholeness. The only difference is now, you’re just outdoors.
I can’t explain it, but it’s amazing to be outside doing something I love on a warm day with the sun shining.
5. Develop YOU effortlessly
During this period, take some time to reflect and appreciate YOU truly. The power of grounding is rooted in individuality.
I have my best moments in nature when I am alone there. You can do as you please, but I believe that to truly learn about and appreciate yourself, you need moments by yourself without any influence.
Just God and your free will to want to improve the quality of your life.
