5 tips on how to balance being a content creator and working a 9-5

Having a balanced schedule and plan helps with being a content creator who works a 9-5.

Not all content creators have quit their full time jobs and let content creation be their main source of income.

I am one of those people who still work a 9-5 and create content. It’s definitely a journey of trying to balance both , make time for both and develop a rhythm that works effectively.

Here are five tips on how to balance being a content creator and working a 9-5:

1. Plan effectively

Start by planning out your week on an off day. I typically use Sunday as a day to plan, schedule and prepare for the following week.

Planning effectively looks like finding a specific day that you will write out your content ideas, work schedule and figure out a way that both will coincide with each other.

2. Create goals

Having goals is a great way to stay on track and have purpose.

During the journey of content creation I have learned that when I set out goals, it forces me to actually complete the work.

3. Know how to schedule your posts

Scheduling your posts is a great way to be organized, prepared and ready.

I typically only schedule posts for Instagram and Facebook posts. It’s a great way for you to stay on top of promotional posts or if you’re at work and can’t use your phone.

You can typically schedule posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest.

4. Be organized

My biggest tip for being organized is to separate your work and content creation lifestyle. Meaning don’t use the same notebooks or planners for both tasks. Focus on work instead of posting on Instagram, so you don’t lose focus.

I like to have separate notebooks where I write down my content ideas in one and my work notes in another.

5. Do what’s best for you

If you feel it’s too much than give yourself grace to take a break.

Often times if I am not feeling great or overworked, I know my content is going to suffer. To combat that I create when I am ready.

Working a 9-5 and being a content creator is not easy, it’s a daily job of trying to balance both. My biggest advice is to always remember that you have to do what’s best for you.
