Building our website as a small business owner in 2026

Don’t ask me what this is about!

Do we know what we’re doing?

Who is we?!

Kinda. My product images are all over the place, but I like it.

Let’s Get Into It

The hosting

So, we’ve switched from WooCommerce to Shopify, back to WooCommerce to Shopify, now back to Woo.

I know what you’re thinking…

Dang! Can she make up her mind?

Well, Shopify is kinda expensive for a small business. Especially mine!

So, I am going with what I feel comfortable with and already pay for!

Our theme

Right now, I am going for an easily manageable theme.

Not too much, not too difficult. Simple enough to sell my products on.

Do we have a theme, though?

Website theme, sure. Like an actual template.

Now, an actual theme for the website and aesthetic is in development.

I don’t want my website to be junky or too uniform. Free ball!

Totally free balling!

Listen, website design is like baking a cake. Well, maybe if your oven is slow.

I don’t know code, but I am making it shake.

Plugins are my icing. Or are the product photos?

Professional photographer (lol)

I like my photos, but I’m debating my Instagram account right now because having a mystery business is more fun!

No, seriously, I am trying to curate my feed to be unique, kinda chic, and a dash of sexy. I’m moving away from the all-pink look and going for an edgier appeal.

Trying to grow up ya know!

Should the business grow as I grow

Debatable, but I get really bored with old things and have to spice them up.

Plus, I like other colors now.

Simple as that!

I promise it still follows the brand values.

If you are still reading

Making sure everything is clickable is the hardest part of building a website. Like, of course, my stationery headliner (it’s not called that) is not working. It leads to a blank page!

That’s a mess.

Buttons aren’t working, but products are uploaded, though.

Did you know

Not having my website together made me shy to post on Instagram! What can I promote if my site is a lil empty?

Plus, I was told I need to show more product photos on the gram, so I deleted everything!

Typical move by me.

Stop being indecisive

Okay, I needed to hear that as I build this “website”. It’s time to get back to my roots (I don’t know) and get to creating a usable site!

Maybe using Shopify wasn’t a bad idea after all.

We love a challenge, though!

Until the next business diary!

Oh, visit the website, plz.
