Espresso diaries: Making espresso cookie butter lattes

Totally in my espresso era

Before you ask, I kinda know what I am doing.

Who knew my true love would be a double shot espresso iced latte>

Let’s Get Into It

I am obsessed with cookie butter lattes

On January 2nd, I visited Dunkin’ Donuts for a free mini tote and donut with a drink purchase.

It was my first time trying their lattes and girl, I was impressed! It was also the first time buying espresso lattes again, without making them at home.

The flavor profile was *chef’s kiss*, the latte was FLAVORED DOWN, the cold foam and cookie crumbs added such a delicious touch.

I truly had one of the best espresso lattes of my life.

My espresso addiction is new

Sidenote: I am a new espresso latte girly. At first, I hated coffee and wouldn’t dare drink it!

I was more of a smoothie or frozen drink type of girly.

It took years to give espresso a chance. My first one was at a place called For The Love of Sugar and it made me feel really good!

So good that I was hooked ever since!

I started with vanilla, caramel, and two shots of espresso. Now, I can do about three shots of espresso and have found myself loving white chocolate syrup!

It’s a $7 drink and my bank account was getting a little pissed off. So, I brought some instant espresso home and it was such an experience making it! It was a lot of steps, and the taste was not right.

For Christmas, my mom brought me an espresso maker and my life changed.

I can’t stop making espresso lattes…

What am I using for my own cookie butter lattes

Being completely honest, my list of ingredients is a bit all over the place! I’ve watched countless videos on YouTube Shorts, TikTok and even Pinterest to find a suitable recipe, but they’re all so different!

I’ve tried warming milk, cinnamon and cookie butter on the stove, but it was such a warm drink!

I am more of an iced latte girly.

I’ve tried using homemade cold foam with heavy cream, milk and vanilla paired with espresso mixed with cookie butter, but I realized I used toooo much milk and the flavor was too bland.

My best version yet

Recently, I used one shot of Torani’s White Chocolate syrup mixed with two shots of espresso, frothed milk with cinnamon and nutmeg, topped with whipped cream and Biscoff cookie crumbs and I can confidently say that was my best drink yet!

Does it hit like the Dunkin’ Donut kind? No, but it’s still good!

The cookie butter flavor is not hitting

Every time I make my cookie butter latte at home, I can’t taste the Biscoff Cookie Butter until I get to the end. I’ve tried melting it and it burns in the microwave or doesn’t hold flavor!

To me, it’s more of a garnish; I can taste it when I spoon it around my cup, but I can’t taste it as an actual flavor in my drink.

I’ve even added cookie crumbs and can barely taste it until they melt down to the bottom of the cup with the whipped cream.

For my next batch of drinks, I’m definitely considering buying cookie butter syrup or creamer. I believe that will give me an authentic flavor profile.
