Was it the many nights at the Deluxx Fluxx looking stupid? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
No parking? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The $15 drink? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The driving when you had no business?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The annoying men?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What was it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why did the party end at 25?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s May 2026, and my 26th birthday is almost a month away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I have no desire to really party. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
What\u2019s a party? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some would say grabbing a few drinks, dancing, maybe food? Or is that a barbecue? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Or is it the party decorations, birthday cake, and a lil bit of music?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh wait, or is it calling your home girls, getting dressed up, meeting up, pregaming, and going out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whatever it is, I am over it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And I am happy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was it the annoying friends? The bad men I met? Or the weird security guards? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whatever it was, I got tired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every night we dropped almost $50, or $100 on parking, drinks, and random food at 12 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was fun when I was 21, even 23, maybe even a bit of 24, but at 25\u2026 it took one weekend for me to realize, \u201cthis isn\u2019t fun anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The long lines, the uncertainty of where we’re going, the dummy missions, no more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I got tired of going to clubs and now meeting people WAY younger than me. It made me feel displaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
No, I still like music, dancing, and maybe I will have a glass of wine once more in my life, but I got tired of partying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Going to the club on a Friday night got played out. And the funny part is, they weren\u2019t even CLUBS! It was the bars, the fictitious people, overpriced drinks, the annoyance of having to drive home, the people!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maybe people did get on my nerves one bar too many times. But I promise you, it wasn\u2019t just the people, it was the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You get tired of being around drunk folks, acting a fool, or people just staring at you. Or seeing the same men every weekend do the same skit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There\u2019s no mystery anymore. It became less of an adventure, too much repetition and stupidity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yeah, I did get tired of paying $15 for every dang drink. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I could\u2019ve got a bottle of wine and eaten my charcuterie at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Well, this wouldn\u2019t be right if I didn\u2019t say early April called me out of hibernation, and I went to Opening Day downtown and had a few drinks, but see it was different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Day drinking. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Home by 7, type of vibe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A little more mature, a little more intentional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I haven\u2019t been out since then, though. Every once in a while is fine for me. It\u2019s not going to be consistent, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Going out is not on the list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I don\u2019t know yet, but it\u2019s going to be something chill for the most part. I could spend my birthday at the park, and that would bring me joy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A good ole picnic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Well, a cute date night would be nice too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Maybe I\u2019ll get a lover as a birthday gift.
