<\/figure>\n\n\n\nIn a world where everything is so black or white with a splash of blue, we need more color. Especially nowadays, with social media being the dominant medium for connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Creativity gets swept under with mediocrity being the key factor. Art isn\u2019t as valued because many think that if they find inspiration online and mimic it, they are a creative director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t get me wrong, nothing is wrong with finding inspiration, but you have to step offline and find inspiration from the soul too- not copy and paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And true creativity, in my opinion, starts when you go back to your roots, relearn or practice the mediums you enjoyed from your childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mixing your foundation and modern environment is a good way to create good art and be a true creative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a trend-based \u201ccreative\u201d because they fade out and will forever change, leaving you with no signature style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why does having a signature style matter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/chandraalilijah.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/img_3393.jpg?resize=640%2C927&ssl=1\")
<\/figure>\n\n\n\nHaving a signature style allows you to become memorable in your art and keeps you guided. It\u2019s you creating from your perspective and adding to it each time using your creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaytranada is a musical artist, but in my opinion, has one of the best signature styles out right now. It\u2019s a cadence in his music before you see the title screaming \u201cTHIS IS KAYTRA,\u201d which makes him a master of his craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He uses house music as a base but creates his own sound that’s iconic, unique to him and cannot be easily duplicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can try, but the off-brand will always sound different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s like creating a recipe; nothing will ever taste like the original because while we may follow the same steps, we don\u2019t know the seasonings or secret sauce exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s the power of creativity, adding your own flair, a secret ingredient that many will try to mimic but won\u2019t nail because it\u2019s true to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s your thoughts, your feelings, the rawness of your energy being depicted in whatever medium you are using. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nBe authentic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nWhile that sounds easy, it\u2019s not. Authenticity looks like stepping into any room and owning who you are. Rather, it\u2019s how you dress, how you talk and doing it with no regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s stepping into the \u201ctotal you\u201d<\/a> unapologetically, and illustrating art that reflects.<\/p>\n\n\n\nKnow your foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhat crafts did you enjoy as a child? Were you more into coloring or building with blocks? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s okay to reflect on what you enjoyed as a kid because it can be the catalyst for what you love as an adult. The piece that keeps your head above water in this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step away from the internet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWe all doom-scroll in some capacity, whether it\u2019s on public forums like Reddit, Instagram or Pinterest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To truly understand and embrace your creative roots, you gotta step away from social media for a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I did that with TikTok, while I loved the array of funny memes, fashion looks, DIY project ideas, it started to become overwhelming. I was spending hours just scrolling, watching lives, and not realizing – I was just a consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I was creating content, now and then, like get-ready-with-me videos, or publishing blog posts, most of my time was spent just consuming. Not idealizing the true mastery of my craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes, unintentionally, we can spend so much time looking for the perfect recipe, the ideal steps, but forget that the best recipes and the ingredients are created when we actually curate them ourselves from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We spend so much time consuming, we forget to CREATE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2026, if you truly say you are a creative and want to become an artist, designer, or inventor, start creating more than you consume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can confidently say that limiting my access to social media and the internet in general by deleting apps, letting my phone die, has led me to create some cool projects or come up with ideas from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflect on your daily life to see if it connects to your creative journey. It\u2019s a game-changer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather, it\u2019s a drawing or you just cut out circles, test your basic skills to see if you can truly create something out of nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe OG coloring book and crayons era –<\/strong> Coloring books are at least $1.25 and can be found at your local dollar stores or craft shops. This is a good way to fill in the lines, find your rhythm,<\/strong> and create again.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPainting a blank canvas <\/strong>– Grab or buy some paint and a blank canvas. I feel so energetic and just ready to dance when I hear the start of \u201cSPACE INVADER\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nI feel that way about fashion shows, too. The first look hit the runway and it\u2019s a tailored white gown that drips on brown skin, highlighting Black beauty, like royalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s why you<\/strong> have to like it first. You have to be the person who says, \u201cThis is for me first and if they like it, so be it. Because not everyone will like it, not everyone will understand it, or even be able to see it. Or even feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIt\u2019s a personal decision first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when you find the confidence, the ability and power to say, \u201cI like this, this is something I enjoyed making and want to continue to do.\u201d People who are meant to empower, embrace and accept will find you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIt starts with you and your confidence first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nIn a world where everything is so black or white with a splash of blue, we need more color. Especially nowadays, with social media being the dominant medium for connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Creativity gets swept under with mediocrity being the key factor. Art isn\u2019t as valued because many think that if they find inspiration online and mimic it, they are a creative director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Don\u2019t get me wrong, nothing is wrong with finding inspiration, but you have to step offline and find inspiration from the soul too- not copy and paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And true creativity, in my opinion, starts when you go back to your roots, relearn or practice the mediums you enjoyed from your childhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mixing your foundation and modern environment is a good way to create good art and be a true creative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a trend-based \u201ccreative\u201d because they fade out and will forever change, leaving you with no signature style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why does having a signature style matter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nHaving a signature style allows you to become memorable in your art and keeps you guided. It\u2019s you creating from your perspective and adding to it each time using your creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kaytranada is a musical artist, but in my opinion, has one of the best signature styles out right now. It\u2019s a cadence in his music before you see the title screaming \u201cTHIS IS KAYTRA,\u201d which makes him a master of his craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He uses house music as a base but creates his own sound that’s iconic, unique to him and cannot be easily duplicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can try, but the off-brand will always sound different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s like creating a recipe; nothing will ever taste like the original because while we may follow the same steps, we don\u2019t know the seasonings or secret sauce exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s the power of creativity, adding your own flair, a secret ingredient that many will try to mimic but won\u2019t nail because it\u2019s true to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s your thoughts, your feelings, the rawness of your energy being depicted in whatever medium you are using. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
How to step into your creativity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nBe authentic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nWhile that sounds easy, it\u2019s not. Authenticity looks like stepping into any room and owning who you are. Rather, it\u2019s how you dress, how you talk and doing it with no regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s stepping into the \u201ctotal you\u201d<\/a> unapologetically, and illustrating art that reflects.<\/p>\n\n\n\nKnow your foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhat crafts did you enjoy as a child? Were you more into coloring or building with blocks? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s okay to reflect on what you enjoyed as a kid because it can be the catalyst for what you love as an adult. The piece that keeps your head above water in this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step away from the internet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWe all doom-scroll in some capacity, whether it\u2019s on public forums like Reddit, Instagram or Pinterest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To truly understand and embrace your creative roots, you gotta step away from social media for a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I did that with TikTok, while I loved the array of funny memes, fashion looks, DIY project ideas, it started to become overwhelming. I was spending hours just scrolling, watching lives, and not realizing – I was just a consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I was creating content, now and then, like get-ready-with-me videos, or publishing blog posts, most of my time was spent just consuming. Not idealizing the true mastery of my craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes, unintentionally, we can spend so much time looking for the perfect recipe, the ideal steps, but forget that the best recipes and the ingredients are created when we actually curate them ourselves from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We spend so much time consuming, we forget to CREATE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2026, if you truly say you are a creative and want to become an artist, designer, or inventor, start creating more than you consume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can confidently say that limiting my access to social media and the internet in general by deleting apps, letting my phone die, has led me to create some cool projects or come up with ideas from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflect on your daily life to see if it connects to your creative journey. It\u2019s a game-changer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I promise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nProjects to get you started <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe basic pen, paper, glue and scissors exercise <\/strong>– Create something. Rather, it\u2019s a drawing or you just cut out circles, test your basic skills to see if you can truly create something out of nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe OG coloring book and crayons era –<\/strong> Coloring books are at least $1.25 and can be found at your local dollar stores or craft shops. This is a good way to fill in the lines, find your rhythm,<\/strong> and create again.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPainting a blank canvas <\/strong>– Grab or buy some paint and a blank canvas. That\u2019s why you<\/strong> have to like it first. You have to be the person who says, \u201cThis is for me first and if they like it, so be it. Because not everyone will like it, not everyone will understand it, or even be able to see it. Or even feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIt\u2019s a personal decision first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when you find the confidence, the ability and power to say, \u201cI like this, this is something I enjoyed making and want to continue to do.\u201d People who are meant to empower, embrace and accept will find you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIt starts with you and your confidence first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kaytranada is a musical artist, but in my opinion, has one of the best signature styles out right now. It\u2019s a cadence in his music before you see the title screaming \u201cTHIS IS KAYTRA,\u201d which makes him a master of his craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He uses house music as a base but creates his own sound that’s iconic, unique to him and cannot be easily duplicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can try, but the off-brand will always sound different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s like creating a recipe; nothing will ever taste like the original because while we may follow the same steps, we don\u2019t know the seasonings or secret sauce exactly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s the power of creativity, adding your own flair, a secret ingredient that many will try to mimic but won\u2019t nail because it\u2019s true to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to step into your creativity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nBe authentic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nWhile that sounds easy, it\u2019s not. Authenticity looks like stepping into any room and owning who you are. Rather, it\u2019s how you dress, how you talk and doing it with no regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s stepping into the \u201ctotal you\u201d<\/a> unapologetically, and illustrating art that reflects.<\/p>\n\n\n\nKnow your foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWhat crafts did you enjoy as a child? Were you more into coloring or building with blocks? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s okay to reflect on what you enjoyed as a kid because it can be the catalyst for what you love as an adult. The piece that keeps your head above water in this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step away from the internet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\nWe all doom-scroll in some capacity, whether it\u2019s on public forums like Reddit, Instagram or Pinterest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To truly understand and embrace your creative roots, you gotta step away from social media for a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I did that with TikTok, while I loved the array of funny memes, fashion looks, DIY project ideas, it started to become overwhelming. I was spending hours just scrolling, watching lives, and not realizing – I was just a consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not a creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While I was creating content, now and then, like get-ready-with-me videos, or publishing blog posts, most of my time was spent just consuming. Not idealizing the true mastery of my craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes, unintentionally, we can spend so much time looking for the perfect recipe, the ideal steps, but forget that the best recipes and the ingredients are created when we actually curate them ourselves from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We spend so much time consuming, we forget to CREATE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2026, if you truly say you are a creative and want to become an artist, designer, or inventor, start creating more than you consume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I can confidently say that limiting my access to social media and the internet in general by deleting apps, letting my phone die, has led me to create some cool projects or come up with ideas from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reflect on your daily life to see if it connects to your creative journey. It\u2019s a game-changer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I promise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nProjects to get you started <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe basic pen, paper, glue and scissors exercise <\/strong>– Create something. Rather, it\u2019s a drawing or you just cut out circles, test your basic skills to see if you can truly create something out of nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe OG coloring book and crayons era –<\/strong> Coloring books are at least $1.25 and can be found at your local dollar stores or craft shops. This is a good way to fill in the lines, find your rhythm,<\/strong> and create again.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPainting a blank canvas <\/strong>– Grab or buy some paint and a blank canvas. Rather, it\u2019s how you dress, how you talk and doing it with no regret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s stepping into the \u201ctotal you\u201d<\/a> unapologetically, and illustrating art that reflects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Know your foundation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What crafts did you enjoy as a child? Were you more into coloring or building with blocks? <\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s okay to reflect on what you enjoyed as a kid because it can be the catalyst for what you love as an adult. The piece that keeps your head above water in this world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Step away from the internet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We all doom-scroll in some capacity, whether it\u2019s on public forums like Reddit, Instagram or Pinterest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To truly understand and embrace your creative roots, you gotta step away from social media for a bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I did that with TikTok, while I loved the array of funny memes, fashion looks, DIY project ideas, it started to become overwhelming. I was spending hours just scrolling, watching lives, and not realizing – I was just a consumer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not a creator. <\/p>\n\n\n\n While I was creating content, now and then, like get-ready-with-me videos, or publishing blog posts, most of my time was spent just consuming. Not idealizing the true mastery of my craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sometimes, unintentionally, we can spend so much time looking for the perfect recipe, the ideal steps, but forget that the best recipes and the ingredients are created when we actually curate them ourselves from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We spend so much time consuming, we forget to CREATE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2026, if you truly say you are a creative and want to become an artist, designer, or inventor, start creating more than you consume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I can confidently say that limiting my access to social media and the internet in general by deleting apps, letting my phone die, has led me to create some cool projects or come up with ideas from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Reflect on your daily life to see if it connects to your creative journey. It\u2019s a game-changer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I promise.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The basic pen, paper, glue and scissors exercise <\/strong>– Create something. Rather, it\u2019s a drawing or you just cut out circles, test your basic skills to see if you can truly create something out of nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The OG coloring book and crayons era –<\/strong> Coloring books are at least $1.25 and can be found at your local dollar stores or craft shops. This is a good way to fill in the lines, find your rhythm,<\/strong> and create again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Painting a blank canvas <\/strong>– Grab or buy some paint and a blank canvas. Draw and paint the room you\u2019re in from your perspective, create a portrait of someone you saw earlier in the day from memory, and add that splash of color back in your creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Love these ideas and want to dabble in a few DIY projects? Mine is pink with a dash of orange or lavender, yours may be mint green, sunshine yellow and black. That\u2019s your style color palette, which is unique to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The world needs your color because it may inspire someone to keep going, and it may make someone\u2019s day to see your art and feel good about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When I listen to Kaytranada, he brings my soul alive. His music makes me feel alive. I feel so energetic and just ready to dance when I hear the start of \u201cSPACE INVADER\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I feel that way about fashion shows, too. The first look hit the runway and it\u2019s a tailored white gown that drips on brown skin, highlighting Black beauty, like royalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The world needs your art because it\u2019s captivating, it\u2019s unique, and it deserves to be seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s not easy showing your work to the world. It\u2019s not easy showing up with this skill and saying, \u201clike it.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s why you<\/strong> have to like it first. You have to be the person who says, \u201cThis is for me first and if they like it, so be it. Because not everyone will like it, not everyone will understand it, or even be able to see it. Or even feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It\u2019s a personal decision first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n And when you find the confidence, the ability and power to say, \u201cI like this, this is something I enjoyed making and want to continue to do.\u201d People who are meant to empower, embrace and accept will find you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It starts with you and your confidence first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Be a great creative this year, create from the soul, create from the heart, create the art that you would\u2019ve loved to see growing up.
