What’s life like as a business owner in your early 20s?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Becoming a business owner was not my goal when I was in high school. I thought I was going to go to college, become a journalist and work for a newspaper or a broadcasting company until I retired. Over time, I developed this aspiration to want to own my small business where I sold stationery and baked goods. Eventually, that business turned into 6:23 Detroit Shop<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I started 6:23 Detroit Shop because I wanted to start selling baked goods and stationery products. 6:23 was birthed during the COVID-19 pandemic and was called “CHANNI\u00cb” when I originally began the business in 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The goal of 6:23 is to create a safe space for creatives and creativity. I felt that Detroit lacked a brand from a Detroiter that sold groovy Detroit apparel and stationery products while also filling people’s tummies with yummy baked goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 6:23 started very untraditional, I did not have a capital fund or anyone investing in my business. It began with me saving my money from paychecks and buying things here and there. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I started with testing recipes for my baked goods, selling small while also creating artwork and planning how to execute the brand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Eventually, I started attending pop-up shops and creating a name for myself, to this day I am still tackling events. <\/p>\n\n\n\nWhy I started my business<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
